PRO-NET Strengthens Malaysia’s Energy Transition Role Through Technology Showcase at ETCON26

Demonstrating practical EV deployment and ecosystem integration to support Malaysia’s transition to low-carbon mobility

Kuala Lumpur, 4 June 2026 – PRO-NET, a wholly owned subsidiary of PROTON Holdings Berhad, reinforced its role in Malaysia’s evolving energy landscape through participation in the Energy Transition Conference 2026 (ETCON26), organised by Tenaga Nasional Berhad and held from 3 – 5 June 2026 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC).

Aside from participating in a panel session on scaling sustainable mobility across ASEAN, Proton e.MAS 7 and Proton e.MAS 7 PHEV also served as the official ETCON26 mobility fleet, with 10 units (6 units of e.MAS 7 EV and 4 units of e.MAS 7 PHEV) deployed for VVIP and official transportation between Kuala Lumpur International Airport and the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. PRO-NET also showcased its advanced technologies, including the Global Modular Architecture (GMA) platform at ETCON26.

ETCON26 brings together policymakers, industry leaders, technology companies, investors, and energy players to explore how AI and clean energy can accelerate Malaysia’s and ASEAN’s low-carbon transformation. Held in collaboration with Tenaga Nasional Berhad, PRO-NET’s participation reflects its commitment to supporting Malaysia’s National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR) through scalable EV mobility solutions and closer integration between energy and mobility systems.

“ETCON26 highlights the critical need for stronger integration between the energy and mobility sectors as Malaysia advances its low-carbon transition. Through our collaboration with Tenaga Nasional Berhad, we are demonstrating how electric mobility is part of a broader ecosystem that brings together infrastructure, technology, and real-world deployment to support scalable EV adoption,” said Dato’ Ir. Abdul Rashid Musa, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of PROTON.

“Initiatives such as the deployment of the Proton e.MAS fleet at ETCON26 further reinforce how EV mobility is not only viable, but ready to support everyday use cases, including large-scale event transportation. The strong market response to Proton e.MAS, which has emerged as one of Malaysia’s leading EV brands, also reflects growing consumer confidence in Malaysia, accelerating transition towards electrified mobility,” Dato’ Ir. Abdul Rashid Musa added.

The conference was officially launched by the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, and was also attended by key national leaders and stakeholders, including Fadillah Yusof, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation (PETRA), in the presence of senior representatives from PROTON Holdings Berhad, including Tan Sri Syed Faisal Albar, Chairman of PROTON Holdings Berhad; Dato’ Ir. Abdul Rashid Bin Musa, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of PROTON Holdings Berhad; as well as . other senior management representatives from PROTON Holdings Berhad and PRO-NET, alongside other national industry leaders and stakeholders.

Showcasing EV Innovation and Ecosystem Readiness

Through a panel discussion held on 3 June 2026, “ASEAN Electric Mobility at Scale: Enabling the Next Phase of Growth”, Mr. Yusri Bin Yusuf, Chief Strategy Officer, PROTON Holdings Berhad, spoke alongside regional stakeholders to explore how ASEAN’s EV ecosystem can move from early adoption to scalable system-wide growth, driven by cross-sector collaboration, viable business models, grid readiness, interoperable infrastructure, and stronger customer confidence.

From 3–5 June 2026, visitors to ETCON26 can experience the Proton e.MAS 7 PHEV alongside its latest electrification technologies, including the Global Modular Architecture (GMA) platform, battery systems, and motor technologies, demonstrating the building blocks of a scalable EV ecosystem for Malaysia’s transition towards low-carbon mobility.

Driving Malaysia’s Energy Transition Forward

As Malaysia progresses towards a low-carbon future, PRO-NET’s focus remains on delivering integrated mobility solutions that combine technology, infrastructure, and ecosystem partnerships to support national priorities and everyday mobility needs, while advancing scalable EV adoption.

The participation in ETCON26 reinforces PRO-NET’s role as a national ecosystem enabler, advancing a more connected, resilient, and sustainable mobility landscape in line with Malaysia’s energy transition ambitions.
