Building a Skilled Workforce for Malaysia’s EV Future
With over 30,000 Proton e.MAS vehicles on Malaysian roads as of July 2026, strengthening aftersales capabilities and technical expertise is critical to ensuring customers receive safe, reliable and high-quality support throughout their ownership journey.
Beyond vehicle adoption, PRO-NET continues to strengthen the foundations required to support EV ownership through its growing nationwide ecosystem, comprising 58 dealerships, 45 service centres and 10 Body & Paint centres. While this network provides customers with greater accessibility and support, skilled EV technicians remain the backbone of delivering a confident and seamless ownership experience.
Through collaboration with TVETMARA, the e.MAS Technician Certification Programme provides a structured pathway for developing local EV technical expertise, equipping technicians with specialised knowledge and practical skills required to support the evolving needs of electric mobility.
To achieve Level 2 certification, participants completed seven (7) training modules covering key EV competencies, including High Voltage (HV) system training, followed by technical assessments to validate their technical knowledge and practical capabilities.
The certification programme was independently verified by TVETMARA Masjid Tanah, ensuring all certified technicians met the required competency standards.
Powering Malaysia’s EV Transition Through Skilled Talent
The e.MAS Technician Certification Programme forms part of PRO-NET’s long-term technician development strategy, creating a structured progression pathway from foundational technical competencies to advanced EV expertise.
Following the successful completion of the first Level 2 certification cohort, PRO-NET plans to conduct certification programmes annually for Level 2 (L2), Level 3 (L3) and Level 4 (L4) technicians, reinforcing technical excellence across its nationwide service network.
As part of its broader efforts to strengthen Malaysia’s EV ecosystem, PRO-NET is also developing local EV production capabilities at the PROTON EV Plant in the Automotive High Tech Valley (AHTV), Tanjong Malim, which currently supports 391 employees.
By investing in people, technology and ecosystem capabilities, PRO-NET continues to support Malaysia’s transition towards electrified mobility while ensuring a confident, reliable and seamless EV ownership experience for Malaysians.
